 Artist Statement:

Reflecting on the purpose of the architectural firm itself, I was inspired by the visual components of urban planning. “B.C. (Before Condos)” is a nod to the juxtaposition between early (16th Century) urban neighborhoods which lacked a grid-system and the rigidity of city planning maps created later in history (17th-19th Century). The lower portion of the image represents human connection & community, beginning as a free-form mountainous shape on the left side of the image and shifts into what resembles a more modern architectural structure. Like many of my images, I envision this as an aerial view— a map the viewer is peering down onto.
